The boxes are unpacked, the kettle is on, and the team at Blue Penguin Accountants has officially settled into our shiny new office at Hestercombe House.

I hate commuting through Taunton’s rush-hour traffic, hoping to be early enough to grab a parking space before someone else gets in there. And although we never did a survey, no doubt that’s something our clients hated too – especially as we didn’t have any free parking for them.

Our little office in The Crescent has served us well. but we decided it was time to leave the high street behind and head out into the Somerset countryside.

Moving to Hestercombe House gives us the freedom to focus on what matters most: helping sole traders, limited companies, and partnerships grow their businesses without the usual headaches.

Set within fifty acres of beautiful historic gardens and surrounded by fields and greenery, if offers a fantastic change of pace. It is calm, bright, and far more welcoming for everyone who comes through our doors

What this means for you

We remain, first and foremost, a digital practice. For the majority of our clients, we’ll continue to meet with you online or over the phone. With the cost of fuel, and the value of your time, there’s no sense in driving all the way over to see us if you don’t need to.

However, if it absolutely needs to be face-to-face, here is what you can look forward to when you pop in to see us:

• Loads of Free Parking: Say goodbye to hunting for spaces and downloading yet another parking app, trying to guess how long you’ll be.
  
  
• Peace and Quiet: Visiting us feels a bit more like a breath of fresh air and a lot less like a chore. Although recently the RAF have been using the area for low-level A400 training, which is deafening. Sorry.
  
  
• Dog-Friendly Offices: We are huge dog lovers. I think the record so far is four dogs in the office at once. Well-behaved four-legged team members are welcome to join you for meetings, provided they do not mind us making a fuss over them.
  
  
• On-site Cafe: Not strictly a penguin thing, but the old stable block is now run as a cafe, open everyday of the week. If you need a strong coffee – or something stiffer – before your accounts meeting, they’ll sort you out.
